Dermal fillers are a common aesthetic treatment. They use hyaluronic acid, a substance found naturally in the body, to replenish lost volume and hydration in the skin. Fillers can smooth fine lines and wrinkles, giving your appearance a youthful boost.
Fillers help to maintain the structure of the face, which loses volume due to depleted collagen as we age. The treatment can also improve the appearance of facial skin which has been affected by weight loss, smoking or sun damage.
We look at your face as a whole, planning the areas to be treated during a full face assessment. We can treat the following areas:
- Lips
- Cheeks
- Nasolabial lines
- Marionette lines
- Upper lip area
- Chin
What does the treatment involve?
At your initial consultation, we carry out a full face to face consultation, including a full-face assessment and careful planning of your treatment and costs involved. We also take photographs of your face, so we are able to clearly show you the difference fillers can make. You will be required to give your consent before we can begin treatment.
There are a number of dermal fillers available, so we select the one suited to the end result you want to achieve. We ensure you are comfortable before beginning the procedure and can use topical local anaesthetic if needed. You may feel some discomfort, but it shouldn’t be painful.
The treatment involves injecting sterilised hyaluronic acid gel under the skin, using needles. We can also sometimes use cannulas (blunt-ended tubes) to inject, to ensure the gel is placed safely under the skin.
Treatment is straightforward and quick. Your results can be visible soon after treatment and will last for around 6-10 months before needing to be topped up.
